HISTORY
The year 2009 marks the anniversary of the Group’s 54 year as the dominant player in supplying equipment to the country’s workshops, and in providing training and after sales service to customers, to maximize the value of the equipment they operate.
Headquarters in Johannesburg, the Group has warehousing and representation facilities in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, and a growing export reach into sub-Saharan Africa.
The company line up boasts a quite remarkable range of products, expertise, and market leadership. From the simplest vehicle ramp or mechanical pedestal through jacks, hoists, lifts and lubrication equipment up to the latest cutting edge in world technology in wheel alignment set-ups and electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment and with everything in-between.
The group is headed by Robert Baudinet, who after 55 years in the motor trade, knows the importance of customers wanting to deal with a company that has a proven track record, and will be here in the future to continue the working relationship with our customers.
In 1971, Automaster was a manufacturing representative company when Robert Baudinet joined. He formed Equipment International, together with Malcolm Dillon in 1974, to sell garage equipment exclusively to the wholesale trade.
In 1992, Automaster purchased Automotive Equipment Company, who held the Sun Agency, and in 1995 purchased Tarry M & G Automotive, who held the Hunter agency. The group was consolidated in 1998 under one trading name: -
AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT INTERNATIONAL (PTY.) LTD.
Automotive Equipment International through its close association with major international suppliers of vehicle equipment is in a favourable position to be able to source any equipment, which may be required to meet any specific needs for a motor vehicle manufacturer, distributor or any franchise dealers.
The Automotive Equipment International Group employs approximately 50 people based at their Head Office in Johannesburg and branches in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and offers full service and training on all product lines.
